The Sheriff’s Office Wants to Make You Aware of a Scam

Montgomery County Sheriff Darren Popkin is alerting residents to a telephone scam where Montgomery County residents have been called with a false claim that they owe money for non-existent arrest warrants. Residents report that the caller has claimed to be from the sheriff’s office and said that a warrant has been issued for their arrest and will be served unless payment is made immediately.  Montgomery County Deputy Sheriffs will never call and threaten to arrest you unless you immediately send an electronic payment.
